I was honored to contribute to the Houston Public Safety Needs Assessment, published by Texas Southern University’s Center for Justice Research. As a criminologist and public health advocate, I value opportunities to support research that examines public safety through a comprehensive lens—one that considers community experiences, systemic challenges, and the social conditions that influence violence, victimization, and well-being.

This work reinforces my commitment to advancing evidence-informed, community-centered approaches to public safety. Meaningful and sustainable solutions require collaboration among researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the communities most directly affected by public safety challenges. I thank Dr. Howard Henderson who leads the Center for Justice Research for the opportunity to support such meaningful work.
